as easy as falling asleep.

those who know me well know i have a thing for fireworks. watching them in the summer? totally dreamy. feeling them in the spring?

even better.

i wouldn't mind wearing these babies on a date night:

honest-to-goodness sunshine.

i fully acknowledge that i am getting ahead of myself here, BUT... today there was sunshine! sunshine when i left the house for work! and sunshine when i came home from school! it was a dream.

i wore a coral colored cardigan today, and someone pointed out what a nice spring color it is. why, yes, yes it is! when i came home, i noticed the pile of clothes sitting on my bed... notice a pattern? orange sherbert-y, coral-y, pink-y, papaya colored goodness.

there was a similar scene in the bathroom. here you can see posietint, which is my new favorite lip stain. it's a perfect pink... or posy, or poppy, or papaya, or whatever you'd like to call that lovely, warm-weather shade that i'm obsessed with.

and the raspberries at the grocery store? they were RED. they were not local, but they were red. an actual, lovely raspberry shade of red, instead of that icky deep maroon i've gotten used to seeing.

speaking of spring and gorgeous color, i will be needing this poppy dress from j.crew. please & thank you.

good things are coming.

soundtrack to spring.

the studio version of this song sounds straight out of the sixties (as all good things do), but i think i prefer it live. she & him's volume two comes out march 23, just in time for longer days and dress weather. i am thinking of hosting a spring formal that week. floral print attire strongly suggested.

croquembouche

i've been obsessed with macarons lately. it stems from spring, passover, and, i must admit, a not-entirely-successful attempt at making them. i found this picture recently and i could just gaze at it foreeeeever. i've always kind of loved the idea of a croquembouche, and one made out of macarons is just so brilliant and pretty.

a good egg.

were i to go on an easter egg hunt this year, this is what i hope would end up in my basket. i took this photo outside one of the window displays at barney's new york on rush and oak. don't the colors remind you of those little plastic eggs nestled in the grass and behind flower pots, filled with jelly beans and waiting to be found?

i won't be decorating eggs this year-- but liza and i will be working on some special springtime treats! look for the post in the next few days. in the meantime, i'll post a picture of one of my favorite easter projects from two years ago. i went a little egg crazy, and blew out a dozen or two. halfway into the dyeing, my old roommate walked in, grabed a wax crayon, and voila, we had little egg heads depicting the likenesses of our favorite pals:

bagels.

we made bagels. they looked, tasted, and smelled like bagels. GLORIOUS.

i can't wait till i have kids, i can't wait till they're old enough to have sleepovers, and i can't wait until i'm the cool mom who always has the best treats.

brighter days.

bursts of yellow spotted in chicago's roscoe village on a recent afternoon.
reminded me of easter pastels.
