honest-to-goodness sunshine.

i fully acknowledge that i am getting ahead of myself here, BUT... today there was sunshine! sunshine when i left the house for work! and sunshine when i came home from school! it was a dream.

i wore a coral colored cardigan today, and someone pointed out what a nice spring color it is. why, yes, yes it is! when i came home, i noticed the pile of clothes sitting on my bed... notice a pattern? orange sherbert-y, coral-y, pink-y, papaya colored goodness.

there was a similar scene in the bathroom. here you can see posietint, which is my new favorite lip stain. it's a perfect pink... or posy, or poppy, or papaya, or whatever you'd like to call that lovely, warm-weather shade that i'm obsessed with.

and the raspberries at the grocery store? they were RED. they were not local, but they were red. an actual, lovely raspberry shade of red, instead of that icky deep maroon i've gotten used to seeing.

speaking of spring and gorgeous color, i will be needing this poppy dress from j.crew. please & thank you.

good things are coming.

soundtrack to spring.

the studio version of this song sounds straight out of the sixties (as all good things do), but i think i prefer it live. she & him's volume two comes out march 23, just in time for longer days and dress weather. i am thinking of hosting a spring formal that week. floral print attire strongly suggested.

holy moly.

plain doilies on ribbon? what was i thinking? i've got to step it up next year. i'm thinking lights are the way to go, based on this picture.

(aside from spring.)

the reasons to be excited for march...

the eats

i recently posted about our v-day/b-day treats over on my oft-forgotten (by me) blog. mmmmm!

a small taste...

of the decorations i made for the february party:

as always, liza was a lovely hostess, and the treats were AMAZING. and PINK. and HEART-SHAPED. wait till you see pictures.

in the meanwhile, feast on the adorable-ness of this tutu-and-tea combo...

the goods...

the ideal & real.

i am several cups of coffee and one trip to paper source into my saturday, so you can expect lots of overly-excited valentine's day posts today.

first up... these beautiful valentine-inspired wedding invitations by erin jang...

i love that they specify champagne-drinking and polaroid-taking as the pre-ceremony activities. there is no finer pair, in my opinion. just ask the attendees of our new years party.

and for your viewing/listening pleasure, an amazing live performance by dirty projectors. i think i am a little bit in love with every person in this video, dave longstreth especially. he is a dreamboat.

custom valentines... what a great idea! i'm loving the pink/red combo and the zigzags.

the pattern reminds me of this great rubie green bedding that i've had a crush on for a while now:

and lastly, a messy-hair kiss, spotted on a cup of jo:

a terrible, awful, no good day...

can be made slightly better with the addition of pink post-its to the fridge, serving as reminders of good things to come.

included here? a smattering of events, people and activities, including tennis, calligraphy and the february party.

what do you hang on your fridge to make yourself smile?

dreamy music, dreamy spaces.

joanna newsom's new album art was released today. gorgeous styling, gorgeous typography, gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

there isn't much i wouldn't do to get my hands on that leopard-print bench. the gem tones, the drape-y fabrics, the ornate lamp shades and side tables... there was a time in college where i tried VERY hard to make my bedroom look like this. minus the taxidermy. the photo makes me think of these spaces spotted recently on apartment therapy:

martha & ben's wicker park brownstone, seen here.

libby & ryan's andersonville apartment, seen here.

sarah's minnesota home, seen here.

for more music-related interiors, apartment therapy posted an interesting analysis of the imagery in charlotte gainsbourg's new video. i have to admit to a long, long love affair with charlotte. it's pretty impossible to NOT end up one of the coolest girls ever when your parents are the fantastically foxy serge gainsbourg and jane birkin:

the video features spaces dreamy and surreal-- definitely worth watching. enjoy!
